It really has been a summer of Love for us here at Hour Weddings! We’ve helped over 20 couples tie the knot this summer alone, and our summer’s still not over! We had some beautiful celebrations at one of our favourite locations the Dell in the Botanical Gardens, as well as at the Mons Calpe Suite, another popular destination that’s perched right up at the top of our beautiful Rock of Gibraltar.

At the end of July we had one of our big weddings -  the wedding of Elisabeth and Oliver, a lovely couple who just happen to have some famous connections that put some glamour into the event. She’s the niece of John Galliano – the colourful designer of Christian Dior fame. Her dress, a Galliano original, almost stole the show from her, but failed in the end as the real stars were the gorgeous couple themselves. On a glorious hot summers day, the officers of Oliver’s regiment – did I mention he’s an officer?? yes, yes the film does come to mind!  – stood to attention and performed the Guard of Honour for the couple as they exited the Cathedral. It was a picture perfect scene, and as tourists and local gathered outside waiting to see the couple, the bridesmaids, dressed in bright red dresses also by Galliano, remained serenely beautiful at the entrance. The day only got better with the reception, which was flamenco inspired and included dancing horses, flamenco dancers and guitarists and singers. I think the guests were suitably impressed!

Just four days later, we had our first Cruise Stop wedding – a party of 20 arrived in Gibraltar on the “Legend of the Seas” to witness the nuptials of  a lovely couple who clearly had the right idea when they decided to combine their wedding and honeymoon in this wonderful fashion. We liked it so much that we’ve decided to create a brand new package called – unsurprisingly – “the Cruise Stop Wedding “. Everything was as smooth as clockwork, until the ship decided to leave a little earlier than planned. But with bride and groom happily married and guests satisfied with their Cava and canapes, getting back to the ship on time was a breeze.

And so the weddings continue…  to our joy and satisfaction, our couples leave us happy and married. Its not yet the end of summer, and we still await more of our lovely couples this year! But we are getting ready for next year which we think is going to be even more loved up! And we are getting our new wedding packages ready for you, as well as our brand new exciting collection of venues both in Gibraltar and Spain!
